Time Traveling Bear Now Sold at Forbidden Planet NYC.

A Goal Of Ours Has Been Achieved

Thank You Forbidden Planet!

Ever since I was a kid I loved comics… and comic book shops. It was a Sunday activity I would do with my family. As I grew older, I discovered more comic book shops. But there’s one special one that stays in mind and that is Forbidden Planet.

Forbidden Planet in New York City is one of the most iconic comic book and pop culture stores in the country. If not, that world. Established in 1981, the store has been the go-to destination for comic book fans, sci-fi fans, and collectors of all kinds.

If you are not well versed already, Forbidden Planet brand began in the United Kingdom. The first Forbidden Planet store opened in London in 1978, inspired by the 1956 sci-fi film Forbidden Planet.

In 1981, the New York City branch opened at 821 Broadway, near Union Square. It quickly became known for its extensive selection of comic books, graphic novels, toys, and sci-fi memorabilia.

Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, Forbidden Planet NYC became a key hub for the comic book boom, offering mainstream superhero comics as well as underground and indie titles.

In 2012, Forbidden Planet NYC moved down the block to 832 Broadway, near the corner of 13th Street. This move allowed for a much larger space with a more modern layout.

The new location expanded its stock, including an increased focus on manga, action figures, collectibles, and limited-edition merchandise.

Forbidden Planet NYC has maintained a strong presence in comic book culture, often hosting signings with major creators, including legendary figures like Alan Moore, Neil Gaiman, and Frank Miller.

It continues to thrive despite competition from digital comics and online retailers, thanks to its curated selection, knowledgeable staff, and status as a must-visit destination for comic fans visiting NYC.

Forbidden Planet NYC is considered a landmark for comic and sci-fi enthusiasts, much like Midtown Comics and other legendary NYC comic stores. And I am more than proud to state that we have a small contribution to this stores legacy.

As myself and the Time Traveling Bear team expands our brand and reach, expanding into retailers of all kinds is crucial towards our growth. You can find Time Traveling Bear not only at Forbidden Planet, but Iconic Magazines and Soho News International. We want to be at all news stands, magazine shops and comic book stores in the tristate area. We are closer and closer to reaching that goal.

Thank you to Forbidden Planet for supporting local creators and too all that have purchased a copy of Time Traveling Bear.

The Best,

Alexander
